Dental bridges

A perfect smile and comfortable chewing won’t be complete if you have gaps between your teeth. Missing one or more teeth can be easily remedied by dental bridges so you can enjoy the comfort of chewing great food again.

Missing teeth shouldn’t rob you of the comforts of chewing and speaking, as well as the confidence to smile.

Dental bridges are used to create a bridge that fills the gap between one or two missing teeth. Bridges are made up of two or more crowns on the teeth either side of a gap, that serve as the anchor for the false tooth or teeth between. The false teeth are called pontics.

By visiting us here in Caloundra, you can take advantage not just of our cosy, comfortable office, but also our extensive range of safe, seamless, flawless, and expertly done dental bridges procedures to give your smile that much-needed makeover.

DENTAL BRIDGES

Get answers about dental bridges

What kind of dental bridges can I get?
The most common type of dental bridges is the traditional bridge. This is made up of a dental implant or dental crown on both sides of the missing tooth to anchor the pontic. The Maryland bonded bridge, meanwhile, uses false teeth that bonds to existing teeth on both sides of the gap. The less commonly used bridge today is the cantilever bridge which is used when there is only one adjacent tooth next to the gap.
How long do dental bridges last?
On average, dental bridges last 10 + years depending on how well you take care of it. The biggest reason for problems with a bridge is getting new decay; so you always need to make sure you are taking care of it with good oral hygiene.
What is the process of getting a dental bridge?
Two or more visits to the dentist are required. During the first visit, the adjacent teeth are prepared. A dental implant may also be necessary, and this will require more visits and time. Once the abutment teeth are prepared, the pontic and bridge will be created based on your teeth impression. Meanwhile, a temporary bridge will be fitted.

By the second visit, your temporary bridge will be replaced with the permanent one. Your dentist may adjust as necessary to make it a perfect fit. Your dentist may also require you to visit more times to check your bite and the fit of the bridge.
How do you care for dental bridges?
Maintain good oral hygiene, regular visits to your local dentist, and follow instructions for proper cleaning of your dental bridge.
